Peat moss layer in flower bed?? Totally clueless about outdoor plants. I have extra peat moss from when we had to replant our grass. Would it be helpful or detrimental to put a layer of this in my flower bed before putting mulch down? I have Bobo hydrangea, peonies, lavender, Russian sage, sedum, alyssum, dianthus, forget me nots, weigelia, boxwoods
Wow. You’re asking a lot there. I’d suggest doing your own research. I don’t say that to be rude. I’ll tell you where to start in scientific but basic ways… Peat moss naturally lowers the ph of natural soil(lower=acidic) SO, what do those plants prefer? If you spread it generally and thin most plants will benefit as most plants enjoy a slight acidic environment. Either way, unless it’s a young or newly planted seedling it’ll be okay.
