Is there any way to save this tree? Inherited a seemingly dead tree, what can I do to revive it if anything?

ToPlantHarmonyAnimals can sometimes strip the bark over the winter. I’ve read that wrapping the bottom with burlap in fall can help protect them over the winter from this type of damage. I think once the bark is stripped off to this extent it unfortunately may be too damaged to be saved. You can see if you can apply a sealant or wound care to it, but i really think it’s too much damage. Edit: I just realized there’s a deep gash down the trunk as well (am I seeing that right?). If so, the tree is definitely a goner. Sorry 😞

Yes it seems to be split on a lot of places. There's some lines from some kind of bug eating the wood that I noticed recently as well. I just wanted to see if anyone thought it would be possible to revive her. Thank you for your information!
