Does anyone use a sprinkler to water their plants? I threw out grass seed last weekend so I have been using a sprinkler to water everything. But I read that plants need to be watered at the base.

HeatherI have mini sprinklers to my front beds. The shade beds are all hosta and hellebore and have individual nozzles that water directly to the base of the plants. However my sun beds are way too full to accommodate individual plants so I have mini-sprinklers set up to make sure they get the coverage they need. My tomatoes are in pots but they are self watering and draw water from the base of the pot. This helps to reduce the spread of certain funguses that can grow if they are sprayed from above. If you can water those at the base either with dedicated drip lines or hand watering I would recommend it.
