So this is my first year with outdoor landscaping plants. Due to some harsh winters we lost 90% of the plants we had in our beds. We recently purchased the house so I wasn’t really upset about the loss simply because I didn’t like what was there to begin with. In June I decided to tackle the issue. We are in middle-Tennessee where soil is mostly all clay. The previous owners had added about 6 inches of mulch but had never done any kind of solid amendments. I tilled all of the mulch into the clay and then added grass clippings and gypsum to try and give me something to work with. I am pleased to say that the hard work paid off and this morning while enjoying coffee on my front porch a couple stopped to tell me my home is their favorite to admire in their morning walks! 🥰
