Newbie plant jungle

I want to start an organic garden on my patio but Iā€™m not confident at starting it from seed especially right now because itā€™s so hot. I canā€™t seem to find an organic nursery near me (central fl let me know if you know of a place near Ocala fl) is it possible to take non organic plants and replace the soil and make them organic? Iā€™m looking at growing veggies, fruits and herbs. Not sure if thereā€™s a way to make non organic plants organic after theyā€™ve already started growing. Thank you guys!

    Hey! I totally get where youā€™re coming fromā€”starting in the Florida heat is no joke. Iā€™m also in a hot climate and recently started an organic patio garden from seed, and itā€™s been really rewarding! I used 100% organic potting soil, organic fertilizer, and skipped any pesticidesā€”and after just a month, my herbs and Serrano peppers are doing amazing. It is possible to grow a great organic garden without starting from certified organic plants. If you get non-organic seedlings, you can grow them organically going forward by using only organic soil, compost, fertilizer, and pest control. They wonā€™t be ā€œcertifiedā€ organic, but theyā€™ll still be clean and chemical-free from that point on. Just be sure to wash off any residue they might have come with and avoid synthetic stuff going forward. If youā€™d rather not start from seed in this heat, look for local plant swaps or marketsā€”sometimes people grow organically even if the plants arenā€™t labeled that way. You might also check out nurseries in Gainesville or Ocala and ask about their practices! Happy gardening šŸŒ±šŸ’š

    Technically no. Because the seeds were possibly coated, and they're grown with non organic supplements/pesticides. You can get them and do as you say, remove the soil and from there only use organic products. And it would minimize the amount of pesticides and non organic. But they wouldn't be organic. It would be as close as you could get, if you didn't want to start from seed and couldn't find organic starts. I would definitely get ones that did not have any fruits or anything, if that's the route you are going. Or if they have some small ones, remove them. To focus them growing new ones after you transition
