Who’s getting ready for 2026 Gardening Season? Just began to sort my seeds and ordering new seeds and planning my garden for this season. Come January I’m starting my tomato, hot peppers, onion and eggplant seedlings. Anyone else?

Of course, but it's a little early for CNY. Tomatoes and peppers (for ie) get very leggy and can't be planted outside until late May/early June. I usually start seeds in the very beginning of March.

Huh I usually start my tomato’s and peppers in mid January and then move it into my greenhouse in house mid march. I start them under a grow light so they don’t get leggy for me. But I do wanna start seedlings again in march just to experiment. I’m in Oregon PNW weather here is either super rainy cold or scorching hot.

I grew up on Long Island. You probably have way colder temperatures than what I grew up in. I now live in Central Florida. Great for planting, but we are having a few days of chill. It dipped into the 40s this morning and supposed to drop to 32 tonight. I am hoping my plants outside in the dirt will survive. I have plants on my lanai as well that I am watching.

My frost free date is in may, so for now I'm working on indoor projects. I do have some plans for a shade garden, but i picked all my plants last year and still need to clear out some weeds and prep the area. I'm also clearing out some volunteer trees to make a path for a native shade plant section. We have several mature pine trees that make a nice little mini forest

I’m going to get more into food planting. I have lots of seeds and need to get some herbs and fruit trees planted.

GrubbdubWe just moved to our dream home on some land. I left my gorgeous established garden on a tiny 1/8 acre plot…. And so now I am starting over with a big blank canvas! I’m dreaming all the things! We moved mid harvest so I didn’t get to see my 2025 garden through the end. I am going a bit stir crazy now! Ordered my seed potatoes, have been making out my plans on paper, and started sprouting some ginger and turmeric for now. Probably will start onions soon. Zone 6B Ohio

Turmeric! That sounds interesting. I should look into that. Have you grown it before? How is it harvested?

I'm eager but will have to wait a bit too. I am starting some pansies today but most of my veggies will have to wait as I will run out of room for the seedlings if I start now. I'm really wanting a greenhouse. Planning if fun though!

Update: I am sure y’all heard about the two unusual cold spells we had in Central Florida. EVERYTHING I had outside that was uncovered went on to glory. I have neighbors and friends with entire fruit trees dead. Mangoes are about to be ten bucks this summer, because the local crops are DEAD. I was able to save my ornamental plants on mylanai for the most part. I covered them all, except for my monstera delicosa (sp). I am over that thing. I am probably gonna plant it in my years under one of the giant trees in my yard and let it climb. Gonna start some seeds this week. I am very late to the party, but better late than never.
