My neighbor gifted me this blueberry shrub in a rather sickly state. I drilled drain holes in the pot and have managed to get it to thrive. This summer I got all of about 5 berries off of it. I am assuming that is because it probably pollinated off of a neighbor’s plant prior to me receiving it. because they aren’t self pollinating I am planning to get another blueberry shrub but wanted to ask folks who know if it matters what variety I get? Does it have to be the same variety blueberry bush in order for them to cross pollinate or am I good with whatever the nursery has in stock?

    You can cross varieties for larger yields — a lot of blueberry varieties have male and female parts of the flowers so you don’t actually need an additional plant, just pollinators. I expect your low yield was a result of the adjustment period
