When I bought this hydrangea it was a brilliant pink but within 2 weeks its blooms have changed to green. They appear healthy and aren’t browning. They are potted with good drainage and sit on an east facing porch. All of the blooms were present at the time I brought it home with the exception of the small new cluster. I really want the color back on this plant. I don’t care WHAT color (pink, blue, white, purple) but I have no idea why it changed or what needs to be done to encourage the color to return. Suggestions needed and appreciated.

    Hydrangeas flowers change color depending on the acidity of the soil. Try adding coffee grounds!

      Actually, I did a bit more research into this and it appears it is a pretty common phenomenon that isn’t entirely understood. Some hydrangeas bloom green for a season or two and then revert back to colored flowers. Flowers that fade to green often do so at the end of the growing season. Adding coffee grounds and increasing acidity would cause new blooms to become purple or blue but do not affect the current blooms and still may not prevent the flowers from blooming green instead.
