Help! Almost all of my plants on my balcony are getting really droopy — they didn’t look Ike this yesterday. I’m guessing it’s the heat, it’s around 83 degrees F here today — do they just need more water or is there something else I need to do to perk them up? I’m a little worried because I’m going to be out of town next week. I have a cat sitter coming by anyway while I’m away, but I want to leave her clear instructions for plant care too. I’m thinking I’ll have her water everything every other day while I’m away. Is that sufficient?

    When were they last watered and does the soil feel dry? It does look like they could do with a good and deep drink.

    The sweet peppers were waters a couple of days ago, the basil was watered yesterday and the flowers were watered late last week. I’m generally sticking to Planta’s schedule but I went ahead and gave them all some water and they’ve perked right up!

    Great that it worked… my suggestion is to always use the plants and the soil as a guide to watering. Plants like peppers, tomatoes and basil react very quickly to water. In the pre fruiting stages, I prefer to err on the side of under watering… by letting the soil dry out and then deep watering, rather than shallow frequent waterings.
