Last year I ordered bare root berries and planted them in pots. I just made sure all the blooms and runners were pinched off so the plants could focus on root development. This year they will be allowed to fruit (they are June bearing variety) and then I will allow runners to help establish new plants. I’ll do the same next year with the new plants from this year getting runners and berries pinched. I’m set up on a three year cycle as most plants only get 2 or 3 good years of production. The plants I have now will be allowed to fruit this year and next and then be removed and replaced with daughter and granddaughter plants. Basically if you get good berry stock once, you pretty much won’t ever need to buy plants again😁
