Recently tomato worms fed off my cabbage and broccoli, leaving it full of holes. I sprayed my hole garden, and the bugs have layers off lately, but I have a few questions. Why didn’t they go for my tomatoes? Can I salvage my broccoli and cabbage? What are the best bug sprays for veggie gardens? I’m open to any tips or advice you might have. Thanks!

Ugh! Those are the worst!! I'm not sure if this is true, but my grandpa told me (years ago, mind you) that the worms, he called them Cabbage Loopers, are the worst kind of pest to have because they eat so much in a short amount of time. He said they like to eat cabbage because the leaves are big and they can lay their eggs on them more easily, plus the underside of the leaves are shady and close to the wet soil. If they are in the tomatoes then it's because the cabbage is gone! 🤣 Not sure if that's true or not, but I always think of him when I'm checking my cabbage for pests. He told me to always use Neem oil on brassicas because then the eggs can't stick to the leaves. I have an AWESOME garden nursery in my town and for some of the weirder things I always go ask them what they typically do. It's take a village, right?😉
