Stonehawk

This is my pumpkin “pit”. I call it a pit as I bury our pumpkins here after Halloween. Then in the spring hundreds of sprouts pop up. I pick and pick them out until the biggest plants take over. Once I have 3-4 large started sprouts I feed them heavily and then flush the next day. Like magic they explode with growth. These guys were just seedlings about a week and a half ago. They seem to double in size weekly. Can’t wait to see them finished: these are 15-25 lb variety. I also have big max pumpkins planted in my other beds they reach up to 100lbs with proper irrigation.

They will be! That’s why I grow them. I refuse to pay 30$ for 3 pumpkins at our local stand like a few years back. Well now it’s like 30$ for 100 pumpkins we’ve grown. Pretty affordable now that I think of it 😂

Does your aunt grow any different types? I see the blue pumpkins are super popular. That and the red.

My aunt just grows regular orange pumpkins! Then she gives them out for free to her neighbors!🥰

I love that! That’s how I operate too. I’d love to start a farmers market stand but I get way more joy just handing them out. My 100lb big max pumpkins just sprouted. Going to trim the vine off and leave only one set of fertilized flowers to ensure massive fruit.

Thank you Camille. Hope the dogs are staying away from your plants!
