I recently ordered some leca just to try it out, and Im wondering which of my plants to try in leca. Should I put my dieffenbachia, my pothos, or buy a new monstea for it? Which would be best?

Hi, I've been struggling with a couple of alocasia even after placing them in a chunky ariod mix. They're starter plants, but have really nice roots. I have a few pothos, spider, & small monstera in either hydro or semi-hydro set ups, so I know very the basics. But, is it OK if I place these 3 alocasias into the same container? And which type of set-up is best? Or maybe I saw one set up with a bottom layer of leca and roots wrapped moss? Any thoughts?

Does anyone have a aglanomena is pon or leca? All my plants are thriving whether in pon or soil but I have been struggling keeping my baby aglaonema alive; I'm debating on just tossing it in pon as a final attempt.

Moved my plant to water because it had a mealy bug problem and they seemed to be thriving while my Alocasia was in soil. The water roots seem to be coming in but the plant doesn’t seem to be bouncing back just yet. I know it’s normal for some leaves and roots to die as the plant adjusts but I’m still a bit worried… should I be giving it fertilizer or something?

Has anyone had luck with growing a dieffenbachia in water? I’ve heard that they don’t do great but mine has been having issues and I’m hoping taking it out of soil would fix that

Progress Report on my Big Tank build and the plant life in it… I almost killed my purple waffle in the shift from the 10 to the 45 when I didn’t put her roots in the catch bucket and she dried out overnight before I found her later the next day. Thankfully, an aquarium set up is a perfect rehab spot and she’s perked back up. Non aquatic plants I’ve added so far are my monkey mask monstera, a ton of baby peace lilies, several golden pothos props, a syngonium, two heart leaf philos, a piece of my Micans Philo, purple waffles, my lemon lime Philo cutting, and a pothos NJoy. Still to be added is my maranta and my anthurium. Possibly some others as I’m now working on the Bog to filter the waterfall feature. My top water fish are absolutely loving the root systems to swim through and my snails and shrimp are keeping them healthy and rot free. It really does show how nature finds its own balance combining aquatic and land life like this… definitely been a rewarding experience that’s taught me tricks to amp up my green thumb.

Hello, I’m setting up a aquarium in the next day or two and was wondering what would be some good plants to grow with the roots in the water of the tank, i’ve been seeing pothos recommended a lot but I would like more options I suppose! Thank you!!

So-- I am not experienced with semi-hydro or hydro. Can anyone tell me if pot size is important for plant health in semi-hydro, the way it is for soil? If I put a stromanthe that is currently in a 2" pot into a 4" pot in pon, will it be ok? It's small and I don't want to drown it!

UPDATE: Recovery efforts on this root rotted Split Leaf Philodendron are going great. First two pics are what she looked like when I started. I treated root rot and cut all but one root & one broken leaf. Put into water w/SuperThrive & Prop Drops. Dusted nodes with rooting powder. Also added Microbe-Lift to prevent mosquito/gnat growth in standing water. Second two pics are now (three weeks later.) She has a full new leaf and several growth points off main stem. Good root growth off the main root. Two new aerial roots budding. Since she has a new leaf I cut the broken leaf to encourage a new leaf from that growth point. Will keep her in hydro for now.

These are the roots of my spider plant I have in water- the brown patches at the beginning of the roots is worrying me, this is the first plant I’ve done this with and want to check it’s okay???

I’m looking at converting several Alocasias into semi hydroponic. I’ve been looking for some nicer planters and researching the self watering planters with the terracotta inserts. I was wondering if anyone has tried using them with leca instead of soil.

Question y’all… do aquarium plants count? 😅😅😅 I’m learning they can be just as fussy as earth plants sometimes Pics are of my 10gal and my new 45gal ongoing build

This seemed like the most appropriate group to share my first tank build (since it was for my plants anyways)🤭🫣 please be kind with any comments 🥰 Originally it was on a stand made for a 45-65 gallon tank. Now I have a 45 gallon there and this one lives on the kitchen counter facing our living room. It came out super well for my first (also please excuse the fish poop… I need a new vacuum hose so tomorrow it gets cleaned)
