Hi! I’m wondering what your experience with growing alocasias in leca has been. I’ve been growing an Amazonia in leca for a couple months and it’s been happy ◡̈ Yesterday I bought a silver dragon and a Jacklyn and I’d like to transfer them from soil to leca - any thoughts or advice on how to do this? My concern is that they’re too mature to do well switching growing mediums. Pictured below is my Amazonia, silver dragon, and Jacklyn.

Hi guys! This is a few of my propagations from my monstera im growing in water. Wondering if these brown spots on my roots are a concern, is it rot? Should i cut them off?

So my peace Lilly had root rot so I decided to transfer it to water. I have only done this successfully once so tips would be appreciated. I tried not to cover the plant in water so I just covered the rhizomes. But please give me tips to keep this going.

This is 28 days growth to 14 days growth bottom to top! Lettuce and cilantro on the bottom, poblano peppers in the middle, and tomatoes with seed from a fresh tomato on top! All the produce will be going to the Mexican restaurant I work at and I expect over $200 worth of produce from this. I’m aware the peppers probably don’t have enough room to grow so I’ll have to trim them! And the peppers and tomatoes are too close so I’ll have to transplant some outside! But I’m very happy with my purchase as it was only $272 and the nutrients for at least a year were $34.99. Any advice as this is my first season as a hydroponic grower would be greatly appreciated and if anyone wants to know where I got this just ask and I’ll try and shoot you the link!

How does one deal with mold buildup on leca? Can u prevent it , is it harmful ,,help

Hi all. I am trying LECA for the first time on three Alocasias I got in the mail. The one on the far left is a stingray, the middle one is a grey dragon, and the right one is a black velvet. I put them in the LECA 5 days ago on the 11th and used distilled water with diluted Super Thrive. The black velvet seems to be just fine. The grey dragon seems a little in shock. The stingray though is looking horrible. It also looks like it has rot on the stem above the LECA? I am pretty sure it wasn’t there when I received it. My question is how long should I give a plant to see if it adjusts to the LECA and recovers? Should I move the stingray back to soil before any more damage happens and try again at a later date once it settles into its new home? Also, how watered up to 1/3 of the container. Should the water touch the bottom roots or should it be below them? I also added more yesterday because it got pretty low in the meantime. Edit: I tried to post this yesterday but it seemed to have failed. Since then I remove the rotted plant from the stingray and it was fully rotten, all the way down. I cleaned the LECA and put the remaining good stem back in for now.

I’m really interested in trying out Pon. The Lechuza pots seem really expensive though. Can I use any self watering container or is there a major advantage to using theirs?

Ok so. my question is: can plants grow in water forever, or do they need to be inevitably planted in soil at some point so they don’t die? This guy has been in water for about a year. one thing i notice is that the roots (or rather, root) doesn’t have any offshoots and is one long tendril. maybe that’s normal for this type of plant, but there are nodes where i’d assume more roots could grow. after a while, it also stopped growing and it is becoming very sensitive to the conditions it’s in, even though it used to be very complacent with anything. i just don’t have a lot of pots, and tbh i kinda like looking at the roots in the water lol so if given the option id lean towards keeping it in water. but should i pot it or can i let it stay in the water?

So much googling all the time - how did I not know they flower like this?!?! This plant isn’t even that healthy necessarily, the best I can figure is putting it in my tiny greenhouse made it flower. Woops!

HELP These Hoya Bella’s have been rooted in my fish tank and they have really taken off!! They are from my grandmas original Hoya Bella, and I want to have them as my centrepiece at my wedding!! How do I move these to soil without them dieing? I also have leca ( which I haven’t had much success with yet) if that would work better before moving to soil?

Where the pothos was clipped is dark brown/black. Should I be concerned? Should i cut that part?

DO NOT BUY THIS “LECA” I used it and noticed that one of my marble queens looked sad. I don’t know why, but I checked the ph, and it was up to 11 or so. After testing variables, I identified the culprit: the clay balls. The ph you see there is the “leca” soaked in RAIN water.

Nature finds a way, i didn’t know what to expect when this branch broke off when i accidentally tipped the planter. i have literally left this squami alone for months in a vase and had to cut some cause some leaves died last december after i added some leca , lo & behold… Somehow leaves are growing from underwater! wonder if i should move it to soil or should let it be.

What’s up Planta fam!! Can anyone suggest a liquid fertilizer that I can feed my pothos? I recently tried an application of Alaska fish fertilizer but I’ve been told I shouldn’t use that since I’m leaving it in water. Happy Saturday! 😎
