Just got this beaut on sale. Got it home and found out is was drowning and suffocating in a misshapen nursery pot. I repotted in leca, and so far so good. I did loose some blooms (as expected) but only 1 bud has died so far. The rest are blooming beautifully. Who woulda thunk that an orchid would love leca so much!
Is your orchid a moth orchid?? My mom bought me three from Albertsons, and of course they all had root rot. I cut off all the bad roots and sprayed them with hydrogen peroxide and repotted in an orchid bark mix but the roots keep desicating. I think my environment is just too dry. I’m thinking my last ditch effort is to try semi hydroponics

0개 좋아요 So far, it seems to be going great. I just have to remember to change the water regularly. I’m in Texas and it gets so humid that water gets slimey in no time

2개 좋아요 I’m in a very dry climate and nothing else seems to be working. I would have thought that hydroponics would rot the roots since they rotted with the other medium lol
2개 좋아요 you just have to start slow with very little water. mine are fully acclimated and I keep water levels at what’s pictured 🙂
