I moved my alocasia Polly from soil to semi-hydro almost a month ago. I can’t tell if I should give up or put the roots back in.

    As long as the corm itself feels firm,I wouldn't give up on it yet. I have over 30 polly's scattered around the house, some in soil, some in Semi-Hydro. I'm by no means an expert and have had my struggles in the past with this plant. If it was me, looks like there might be some root rot going on, if it was me, I would remove the mushy roots, spray it down with 3% hydrogen peroxide, and put it in damp spaghnum/perlite mix and just wait. Keep the spaghnum damp, but not wet. For added humidity, I put mine in a zip lock bag, or upside down mason jar. Open the bag/ jar 2-3 times a week for airflow. If you have a heatmat, I would put it on there, but not necessary. Polly's IMO are very resilient, don't give up on it. I've used this method for quite a while and it has never failed me. Below is my alocasia batik that I received in fluval. Decided to transfer it to pon, and ended up with severe root rot and not a single leaf left. Chopped off all the roots, sprayed it down with 3% hydrogen peroxide and put it in spaghnum/perlite and left it alone. Bottom right is what it currently looks like. There is always hope.       Good luck! Mine did lose all of its leaves and roots, but there might be hope for the corm yet.
