The rate that the roots grow since switching to Pon is ridiculous; Wowza they grow fast. I have a few Micholitziana that I recently transferred to Pon and the roots are already growing out of the bottom. Does that mean I need to transplant already or just let them do their. Also, when repotting, any tips as to how not to damage all roots growing out of bottom. A big part of me says just to cut them; Won't most of them get broken off anyways when you lift the plant out of the contanier?

    wow! Any advice on making the transition?? I switched my micholitziana from soil to pon a week ago, and it’s starting to yellow and droop. First experience with pon (and first alocasia) 🥲

      So sorry for late response as I'm just seeing this. If there's one piece of advice I could that I learned is don't let the soil roots sit in water. What do I mean... if you're using a reservoir, only fill it a little bit so tue height of the water doesn't touch the roots. Let the soil roots grow into the reservoir and turn into water roots. When they start to do that, you can fill the reservoir a little more. If you're using the wick method, it's a little easier to make the transfer in my opinion. I have some smaller plants using wicks and larger plants in pon that just sit in a reservoir. Hope this helps

    She’s putting out some new growth and looks pretty happy, finally! I think we had a brewing spider mite situation (little spots on the leaves that were consistent with spider mites, but I didn’t see webbing or actual mites) so it was a bit of a journey. Fingers crossed the spider mites are actually gone… I also ended up cutting some of the older leaves off that were yellowing during the transition to pon anyway, so she’s got a nice fresh start. Bonus - I’m seeing some growth start on the ~15-20 corms I found when repotting!

    The other plants I switched to pon are all doing great - Ficus shivereana, white princess philo, syngonium albo. They didn’t skip a beat. Thanks for the tips!

      Sweet. Glad to hear things are going well. I've seen those little spots on my leaves as well a few times but have never seen any spider mites either; I have not a clue what they are caused from but I spray them down anyways.
