Hello, first day in here. I am wanting some advise on how to care for my adasons monstera plant My friend gave me a clipping maybe a yr ago I’ve kept it in a glass jar of water the whole time It grows new leaves sometimes but has browning edges of the leaves when they age. I keep it about 2 ft from a window that gets partial sun most of the day We keep the house at 67 degrees on the 4th floor of an apartment Any advice to help my baby grow big and healthy would be appreciated!!
This is a M. deliciosa not M. Adansonii. It looks like you have most of the stems under water, it may be too wet, causing rot. You'll want to prop it up so just the roots and bottom node are submerged. It could be a fungal too, not seeing a close up of the leaves, you could sanitize it and the container with 1:3 peroxide dilution.

Yes, whatever you can do to prop it up. I've used clips or acrylic prop tops they sell on etsy. You can leave it in water i definitely. I've seen several huge ones in water. Just be mindful that the roots will take up that space and the mouth of the jar is more narrow. So you'll need to occasionally clip them back so it doesn't get stuck. Agree that it will need fertilizer every 2-4 weeks about. Start with a dilution first to guage how it takes it. And change the water every 1-2 weeks. I usually change the water a day or two after fertilizing too

0개 좋아요I've never kept a plant in water long-term, but other people have. Just make sure to add some fertilizer to the water.
2개 좋아요I keep mine in water just to keep its size down, I change the water every 7-10 days (or when it’s cloudy and gross) and always add a VERY diluted fertilizer. I give the roots a good rinse every time and remove any dead ones (super common with hydro plants). I agree with others though that your water level is a bit too high. You want it so it just covering the roots, a short ways up the stem is fine, but not as far as yours is now.

A humidifier would help with the browning edges. Whenever my plants develop them I find it’s usually due to lack of humidity

좋아요 1개 Sometimes I do the pebble tray for humidity, but I find they doesn’t work for me too well. Maybe it’s because I’m in New York or a skill issue on my end lmaoo. I’ve seen those wand humidifiers for small spaces where you put it in a water bottle—could do the trick for your monstera!
