I recently ordered some leca just to try it out, and Im wondering which of my plants to try in leca. Should I put my dieffenbachia, my pothos, or buy a new monstea for it? Which would be best?

    First make sure you wash your leca because it has a ton of dust and clogs everything. And are you putting your plants in just leca and water or mixing the leca into the soil (Ive done both) I have a pothos in 1/4 leca and 3/4 chunky soil mix and it’s doing great but I do have to water it a bit more frequently. I also have some succulents in leca and water and they are also going good. You also need to top the water off a lot if they are in full light though. For your plants I think all three option would do great in any either water and leca or soil and leca. Those three options are probably some of the best for leca and should do great! (Also if you dicide to go with water and leca put the leca in first then the water or else the leca will be a floating mess.) Hope this helps! Feel free to ask if you have any other questions

      Yesssss! Definitely wash the leca well! I’d love to learn more about the succs in leca…. I have a couple that didn’t do well, a couple that are doing good and one I need to chop n prop due to etiolation

    I currently only have my mother peace lily plant in leca (but that’s because I built a canister filter for one of my tanks so I robbed my plants to fill it with media 😅🤷‍♀️)…. Pothos is a good plant to start hydro with as they are more forgiving to mistakes that may be made as you learn. Peace lilies take to it easy and you don’t have to fertilize them as much as others. I have a monkey mask that lives on the waterfall feature of my tank so it’s full hydro…. Philodendrons do well typically in hydro especially your basics like the heart leaf and micans. I just started a white wizard plantlet in full hydro and it’s doing well (prepping that one for tank life). The main thing to remember is that you need to wash the roots of all soil debris and keep in mind they will melt off their soil roots and grow in their water roots. The things can (and usually do) get uglier before they get beautiful again.
