My first plants in LECA. My raindrop peperomia propagation, my pilea, and spider plant. I did 3 others as well - African violet, watermelon peperomia, and a corm I found under my alocasia ninja - but didn’t take any pics yet. I have a few other plants I’m wanting to move as well but I’m putting them in water for a while first.
Is LECA suitable for African violet? I’ve thought about repotting mine in LECA but didn’t think they were compatible
0 J'aime Yeah apparently it’s a good candidate for LECA! Hopefully mine does well 😅. It’s been half dead almost since I got it so I figure it can’t get any worse.
1 j'aime Also, I think moving plants straight from soil into LECA is a less traumatic change than soil to water to LECA. Speaking from experience. Completely toasted my orchid doing that
0 J'aime Most of them are pieces of my calatheas I separated from the mother plants to try in LECA, but apparently they don’t always do well with a direct transition, so I’m giving them time to grow some water roots first. The others are philodendrons and and the rest of my Alocasia, which I read should do well. So I’ll probably just move those ones over immediately then.

What are your plans in terms of flushing when you do a setup like this without a reservoir? Just curious ☺️
0 J'aime So these glasses are pretty small, like 5 cm diameter. So far I’ve just covered the LECA with my fingers to keep it in place when I’ve drained the water. This won’t (and can’t) be the permanent home for any of them because they’re so small. It’s just until they establish some good roots. Then I’d like to put them back in their nursery+ceramic pots with LECA.
