What does this polka dot plant want from me?? It has decent leaves but only at the ends of the stems. It's bald for the first 2/3. The leaves get crispy and fall off. The pot is pretty big and doesn't dry out very fast. I mist it periodically but I think it's pretty low humidity in my house. Has anyone had luck with these?

Mine has stayed almost the same short and stubby size for 2 months😁 but its full. They are very dramatic though. Will wilt at the slightest sense of dryness😒🙄. Are you letting it dry too much between waterings? I water at the first sign of wilting from the leaves. This is my second go around with this plant. This time is going way better but no upward growth. Mine probably could use a repot too. You can water or soil prop these, so maybe a haircut?

I've thought about cutting it down, but all the foliage would be gone 😟 the pot is pretty big and the roots are coming out the bottom. It's like the roots are way bigger than the actual plant. I do have a smaller, newer one that is going a lot better...

I feel the same about the roots being so long. Mine are bunched out the top of the soil

I hate polka dot plants 🫣 I’ve tried twice and they’ve always gotten long and leggy on me. The only thing that worked for awhile was consistent pruning and making sure it didn’t bloom. But they are SO fickle. Humidity helps but they’re such divas. I think it definitely needs to be chopped down. I hope you’re more successful than me!

My polka dot plant decided it wanted… a terrarium or a cloche. 😑 After months of frustration, I tossed it into a glass jar with a lid and, wouldn’t you know it, she started thriving 🤦🏽‍♀️🌿 So this weekend’s project is turning that canister into a proper terrarium. I’m even throwing in a few plant friends because it’s been living in solitary confinement for the last few months 😂. Good luck with yours 🍀!

That sounds amazing! Is it trying to escape yet?

She’s pretty happy and vibrant. Her coloring went from a light pink to fuchsia 🤩 . I’ve got to prune her because she grew A LOT in the jar✂️🌿.
