Meet Winnie my new white fusion calathea š¤ I found her at my local market and she was the last one! Any care tips are welcome, I have a few calatheas but this is my first white variegated plant.

They are not a fan of dry environments or dry soil, and are sensitive to tap water. People recommend distilled water but I have a zero filter for water and mine loves it. They do better with bottom watering too, I water when the leaves start to curl and feel dry and the top soil is dry

Mine is surprisingly easier than I thought, people say theyāre pretty temperamental. Sheās a few feet from a west facing window as well and has put out 4-5 new leaves and has more coming in after about a month of having her

Iāve always used distilled water bc the store told me itās the only thing that works. So youāre telling me I can save time and money by using my zero filter š¤¦š¼āāļø lol thank you I will be testing that out

send_nodesItās good that you already have other calatheas because Iāve heard the white fusion is quite difficult š The care should be about the same as other calatheas, but variegation can be slightly tricky. You need higher light because the white parts of the leaf canāt photosynthesize, but too bright of light can burn the variegated parts of the leaves

Calatheas are my favorite so Iāve experienced their dramatic tendencies lol š right now I have her at a south facing window, itās the same spot I have my peacock plant and pink striped calathea. I know thatās pretty close to the window but I usually have the blinds down a bit so itās not direct sunlight all day. Thanks for the tips!

MoMoBeautiful! What lovely colours. I recently got one which unfortunately came to me sickly and waterlogged (it was a gift). Iāve repotted into terracotta, am using only distilled water and am bottom watering. Lots of sun lamp (UK) and itās looking much better.
