Hi everybody, no change with my plants so far. I named the Hoya Rya and the ZZ Mia. I know that I should focus on taking care of these and if I get more plants then I probably won’t take care of them and just focus and learn about a few at a time, but these plants are honestly a little too easy. I know it sounds weird but I was so hyped to take care of plants and now I water them every 24 days or something, and then spritz one every 6 days. So, I’m kinda wanting more plants because mine are boring. I’m not gonna actually do it, because I need to take care of these a little bit more first before just getting new ones, but honestly a little bored with them 😅 just wishing I could be more present in their lives I guess lol. I don’t know if there’s a way to do that, but if anyone has any magic tips then that would be helpful

Spider plants need watering about once a week, but are still low maintenance. They grow quickly as well, so you’ll feel like you’re making progress!

no plant should be watered on a schedule since they are constantly changing the amount of water used in a day. schedules like the ones provided in the app are for checking the soil, not watering. spider plants should only be watered once the soil is completely dry (every 10-14 days for my larger plants) to avoid overwatering symptoms and potential root rot

make sure the soil on your zz plant is completely dry before watering. zz plants have fat tubers for water storage that can rot and burst easily if the soil stays too wet. i don’t have one but many people who do recommend leaving the soil totally dry for a few days to a week before watering. hoya are also prone to rot from overwatering, especially if yours is planted in a dense media. make sure the soil is totally dry before watering. you may have to repot in a coarse mix in spring to prevent overwatering and rot

Ha! Can’t say I blame you! ZZs and Hoyas are some of the most easygoing plants there are. They do pay off in the long run, trust me. I suppose generally, if you’re wanting more dynamic plants, you could try begonias, ferns, or calatheas, though they might require various amounts of humidity to thrive. Dieffenbachia offer a great bang for their buck, as does Syngonium. Both are easy to care for and have a great variety of cultivars to choose from.
