Help! First time repotting my plants. I was looking at these compressed coconut brick that super expand,I see on Amazon. Do you recommend these? If not, what then?

    i love coco coir bricks for plants. it’s a really efficient way to get a lot of moisture retentive media for your plants. i add a bit of hydrogen peroxide to the water when i hydrate mine to kill any potential pests or parasites, mix in a handful of worm castings, and then lots of drainage material like pumice and perlite, and coco chunks for aroids and others that prefer an airy mix

    Coco coir is a great planting resource, although if you plan to use it for aroids (monstera, anthurium etc) then I recommend mixing it with some pine bark and perlite, as it helps make the coco coir more airy

    The compressed bricks are pretty cool. But they’re a bit of a pain if you don’t need a ton of coir all at once, in my opinion. You can get it uncompressed. It’s less cost and space effective, but better for fewer plants. I don’t like using coconut coir or husks on their own personally, but it’s a good base for a mix
