Can I get some advice on these plants? I’ve had them about two months and have re potted them and watered them every 10 days. I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong and I’m very new to the whole plant thing aha.

Also new to this but are you watering with cold water? Try lukewarm, roots can get shock from the cold water. Also how far away from the window are they? Mines grow much better closer to the window 💚

Oh yeah I’ve been watering with cold water, I will use lukewarm now! They are like 4/5ft away from the window unfortunately I can’t move them closer I have furniture in the way

Is that a heater or a humidifier next to the Calathea? They are humid loving plants. So next to a humidifier YAY, next to a heater boo. I’d also suggest watering with distilled water if you have hard water out of the tap. They can be a little finicky with watering, don’t like too moist or too dry - which is maddening for me 🤣

That indeed is a heater, I will move it away from the plant! And thank you I will get some distilled water

I never bothered to buy distilled for mine I just put a bucket under the gutter and collect clean rainwater! If you live in a place where you can do that it’s a lot cheaper and saves wasting the rain 😂

I use filtered water with all of my Calatheas and they’re very happy. I’d say rule of thumb is just not using tap water for all prayer plants

i would suggest watering with rainwater (as long as it’s not roof runoff) or filtered and treated tap water. filtering will remove excess minerals and an aquarium water conditioner will dissolve any chlorine/chloramines in the water. if you don’t have a hygrometer and/or humidifier i’d recommend getting one; if the humidity in your home is under 50% the leaves will continue to turn crispy due to moisture loss during transpiration even if they are not experiencing chemical burn from tap water. also, judging by the length of the stems, your calathea is not receiving nearly enough light. lastly, i’d like to add that watering your plants on a strict schedule can be dangerous. how fast they dry out depends on local weather, how fast the plant is growing, and other factors that change over time. always check the soil with your fingers or a bamboo skewer before watering to avoid overwatering or under watering.
