I am new to indoor plants, but I have been gardening off and on outdoors for most of my life. I want to buy some new plants, and I love foliage (of course) and trailing plants. I already have a pothos and a vinca vine for trailing plants (and other plants) and i'm looking at getting a hoya ropa plant. Are there other foliage plants and possibly trailing plants that you guys would recommend?

string of hearts (solid and variegated) and hoya obovata (inner variegation) are my personal favorites. both are easy to care for, bright light (mine are in a southeast window and slightly sun stressed) and water when the leaves are soft and fold easily, the same care for hoya carnosa compacta, or indian rope plant. they’re all semi-succulent tropical vines

For trailing plants, I recommend peperomia hope, philodendron micans, Scindapsus, string of turtles, string of hearts, string of pearls, black pagoda lipstick plant, Calathea, jungle cactus, creeping fig, Hoya linearis, and so many more! I recommended so many because I wanted you to be able to chose ones that you prefer the look of :)

Of all of the plants, my string of pearls has brought me the most joy and reward over the years. It’s beautiful, spherical leaves are so unique. You can keep cutting back the trails and adding them to the top to make a fuller plant as they root so easily. She’s the favorite when guests come over, and they can usually leave with a few cuttings because she’s a generous producer. I just can’t say enough about SoP! I’ve had other, similar trailing succulents, but they pale in comparison.

Yes! I love Alocasias!!! My absolute favorite plant right now is my Philodendron Birken tho. I kept it alive without even knowing what it was or paying much attention to it so I would say it’s pretty easy to care for

I love my Birkin as well! It was an impulse purchase, but has turned out to be one of my absolute favorites. It’s a gorgeous cultivar 🌱
