Does anyone have any tips on caring for a peperomia caperata? I bought one but realized I know nothing about caring for it 😅

I have a hard time with this variety. I somehow always manage to overwater. I had one last longer than previous plants and the only thing I did differently was that I was much more vigilant with checking the soil well before I watered. I only bottom watered, and I picked a more lowish light area for her. She did great for months and then one day I looked at her and she was a mess. I checked the soil and it felt ok so I decided to repot her and see if there was a root problem. I pulled her out and all the soil just slimed out the bottom! The soil was so drenched I could squeeze water out of it like a sponge!! ?? 🤷🏻♀️ I tried to save her but she was too far gone. 😢 If I get another one I would definitely mix leca with the soil to help with drainage and soaking up some extra water if it gets a little too much. My daughter has success with watering all the plants outside on hooks or hangs her plants in the shower to water them so she knows all the water is out. She doesn't like the saucers because they hide overwatering. So maybe keep the bottom of the pot uncovered until you know how she handles watering.
