Look at this fun plant: weeping p**** willow (it won’t let me post the full name). When I first got it, almost immediately it started dropping the flowers and I was frustrated and then the green leaves started showing up. Does anybody have one of these? I’m wondering if the stems turn red in the fall. I read they’re deciduous and I’ve never had one before, so I’m wondering how it’ll do inside. Do the leaves fall off even if it doesn’t get cold? Do the stems turn red and stay? I’ve got some time to figure it out but I’m curious!

Not sure if I’m right, but I think that flowering happens separately as a normal part of their growth. People used to trim branches in the winter and bring them inside to a water-filled vase to force-flower them for decoration.

I suspect that the red coloring in the earlier picture is what you’ll get in the winter or at least when sap rises for flowering.
