So I just got this guy from one of our neighbors who couldn’t take care of him anymore and he has these purple-ish brown spots on most of his leaves, his soil seemed pretty dry so I gave him a bit of water. Anyone know what might have caused this?

I’d do a full inspection of the roots. Pull him from the pot and check for rot/infestation and then treat accordingly. Then repot. upgrade pot by a few inches if it was root bound & make sure to give him the right soil.

What would you recommend for treating root infestation?

Thank you! I checked the roots and they do seem a bit root bound so I’ll be getting him a nice new pot soon!

The dried edges look like a case of under-watering to me. But also, the dried spots in middle of leaves could also be sun-scald. If it had any direct sun beams through a window it would scorch spots into leaves like that. Could be one or the other or both!
