(Me being an obsessive plant parent) About to repot some new plants, and a couple have the tops of their roots exposed above the soil and are dry. Will this pose future problems for the plant/will it be fine once I repot it with topsoil and water? Additionally, how deep into the soil do you usually plant a stem? Concerned about avoiding stem rot while also keeping the plant stable enough (ty in advance - trying to correctly re-learn some houseplant basics haha).

I’d say it depends a lot on what plant you’re gonna repot. Some can handle being planted deeper but most do best if the soil line is kept at the same level to avoid stem rot. Some dry root tips at the surface shouldn’t be a big issue as long as the plant has a healthy root system otherwise 🙂
