Told myself I wasn’t going to buy another calathea until I mastered care for my Freddie (that I bought last year as a complete newbie - it’s seen better days…) But a Rattlesnake caught my eye at the grocery store just now and I had to get it 😭 I have a general idea but wanted to hear from y’all…what are your calathea care tips?

    they do not appreciate drying out! i keep my rattlesnake in a semi-airtight greenhouse thing for humidity with indirect light. that's the only way i've had success with them. i use a soil that allows drainage but not fast draining/drying, not like a cactus mix. and just keep a close eye on it. i'm no calathea expert by any means but those are my tips.

    Use distilled water because they are sensitive to minerals and will literally start to bleed them out of the leaves undersides out of spite. 🥲🥲🥲

    Depending on how good you are with caring for plants, I would stay away from these if you’re a beginner because Calathea’s from my experience are very fussy
