Some months ago I took a cutting from my big philodendron pedatum plant, tried putting it in water for roots to start but no luck so far as you can see and the end is a bit slimy. But the plant looks happy overall. 😊 Any ideas? Or will this just not work?

Beautiful cutting of Philodendron you have there! These are one of my favourite species. It looks like your plant need to be cut in order to remove the slimey bit and to make sure a Node is saturated in the water as well. The node is the bit where the plants grows leaves, branches and roots. The stem between each node is bare and called internode. So what you should do is to carefully remove the lowest leaf on your plant. Prune the internode a centimetre (or two) just below the node (where the leaf was attached to the stem) and put the plant back in the vessel, with some new fresh water. 🌿
