This is my precious philodendron fuzzy petiole. I potted her up a while back and then staked her up cuz her new leaves were unfurling and only half the leaf was greening. She gets between 50-60% humidity. I still have to âhelpâ the new leaves and mist almost daily. I recently realized they like to crawl. Any tips?
The fuzzy petiole is a fuzzy plant đ But they grow quite fast! The problems with unfurling their leaves are very common among philodendrons and it could be due to low humidity, lack of light or imbalanced watering. Lack of micronutrients can sometimes cause it too. However, this often happens to my Philos during the winter or when I havenât watered it properly. If all of thatâs already in order you just want to try to mist/shower the leaves to help them unfold easier. I use soaked paper towel too and, very gently, wrap the new leaf thatâs about to unfurl to help it out âșïž I would also recommend that you give your Philo some plant support in form of a moss stock or wooden board that it can climb onto.
