Hi all! I recently received this amazing, tall Fiddle Leaf Fig from a friend. They couldn’t take care of it and it seemed like it was on its way out. It’s been a year and several new leaves have grown and the it is looking beauty and vibrant. My question and concern is some old leaves haven’t recovered. Some are cracked, brown and cracked. Any tips as to what to do? Should I clip them, or leave them to possible fall on their own? Also, I am worried the bottom, middle portion of the tree hasn’t grown any new leaves. It’s very bare. Oh! And the last photo is a baby tree that has began to form at the very bottom. Do I remove it? Leave it? Sorry so long, but Thanks for reading!

It looks like your fiddle leaf fig has really recovered since it moved in to your care. Great job! The damaged leaves won’t recover. You can leaves those on the tree or remove them for aesthetic reasons. That is up to you. But if there’s a lot of damaged leaves you should prioritise and only remove a couple of them. So you don’t stress the plant. The bare stems won’t grow any new leaves. They might, however, produce side shoots instead. New branches might occur and new leaves will be able to grow on those branches. The baby plant is a sideshoot from the roots. If you keep it it will eventually cover up the bare stems of the original plant. You can otherwise divide it from the mother plant if you’d prefer to grow them separately 😄

Thank you thank you! Appreciate it. I’ll leave the leaves. Doesn’t really look to bad considering new ones have come and the some old ones have actually grown larger and more greener. It’s pretty cool. I’ll send an update in a few months! Have a great weekend everyone!
