I have never rooted any ZZ-plants myself but I would suggest water or using the semi-hydro method with either LECA or perlite as substrate. It’ll keep them moist but prevent rot. What variety are you growing? ☺️

It’s a ordinary ZZ plant but variegated, the pink is from the previous rooting attempt with root riot. It would be nice though if it keeps pushing out pink leaves 😋

What a nice collection 😊 I’ve had good success rooting them in porous soil of about 50% or more of perlite and kept in a humidity dome, but there are many ways to do it

Thank you, this is my propagation station! I’ve got a humidifier next to it so I don’t think I need a dome. Thanks for the help
いいね 1件Can I just say that I love your propagation station! I propagated zz some years ago in regular potting soil, watered it a bit more frequent than the big one but that’s it. Took so freaking long for it to root so I forgot about it and then there suddenly where roots and new leaves. So: patience might be the key? 😅

Thank you ☺️ I think that’s where I have problems. I want to get new cool looking leaves NOW! 😅
いいね 1件Totally get that! Especially when it’s that pretty 🤩
0件のいいねI’ve heard that ZZ plants take a long time to root, can take at least 6 months if you’re rooting in water. I’m actually trying to propagate one too, been waiting a month and nothing yet but maybe by the summer something will happen 😅

I’ve been able to root one by starting it in a humidity tray with moss and then moving it to water that had rooting hormone stirred in after it had a couple roots starting to sprout off. About 4 months total time
