Guys I am not sure what’s going on with my prayer plant. He gets distilled water for watering but gets regular water for fertilizing. I don’t water exactly when Planta says, only when his pot feels lighter and he’s about half way dry. He’s facing a northwest window that gets a couple hours of morning sun and bright shady condition the rest of the day. The Planta light meter says it’s “part sun part shade”. He was doing good until a month or two ago he started pushing out several roots that each started a new stem. There is also a new stem growth coming from the soil. One of the new roots/stems I cut off because it was dying (it’s doing better now in a prop jar with its own roots). But now random leaves are starting to die and in a weird way. The way the color is leaving the leaf is different from how they normally fade when they’re dying of old age. Also new leaves are coming in with weird streaks and even new leaves are dying. I have seen the roots recently and they look fine. Does anyone have any experience with this and know what’s going on?

    Check for pests

      I thought about pests but I can’t ever find any! So I did spray last week with a neem oil castille soap mixture just in case. Because something similar is happening to my pothos and heart leaf philodendron dropping their leaves.

      Yea spray weekly , also be aware of environment like no ac blowing directly on it

      There is def ac blowing but I can’t do anything about that so I’ve been moving them around and it doesn’t make a difference. But thanks so much for your input! đŸ€—

    Also to add this is what one of the leaves that died looks like. Usually I’ve seen them lose color from the tip toward the stem not the other way around.

    I’m wondering if you could try ruling out overwatering? Do you have a moisture meter? I bought one really cheaply on Amazon and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done for my plants 💚 I wait until the meter reads 4 or 5 for my prayer plants - 1-3 on the scale is dry, so they’re still slightly moist - and then I’m sure I’m not overwatering. Maybe also try a fungicide spray on the leaves, and cut out misting for a while to see if that helps. It’s really difficult with ac but maybe they’re getting stressed from being moved and need time to gradually adjust? Hope your gorgeous plant is better soon!

      I do have one. I had stopped using it because some people wrote that it was no good. I’ll def try that again! đŸ€—

    Mine did the same thing, until it looked completely dead. I removed EVERYTHING for the surface of the soil. I put the pot in my basement ‘graveyard’ until I had tine to repot other plants to make use of the pot. Lo and behold, it came back. I decided to put it in fresh soil and it has done much better. Maybe a fungus of some sort?

      Yea maybe. But some of my other plants are starting to act weird too. I wish they could talk and just tell me what’s wrong đŸ˜«

    Can you share pictures of the other plants, too? Are they grouped together or in different spots?
