Hi all, I’m looking for advice on my fiddle leaf fig but there’s not really a problem. She was found near the trash around 4 years ago and despite the stress, being a difficult plant and me not being very good she’s surviving and I dare say thriving. However she looks very different than any other fiddle leaf fig I’ve seen (never had any other in my care though). The leafs on the top are getting massive, 18in long and 11 wide while all the leafs at the bottom are all drooping but green. The plant seems in good health so the question is, is there anything I should do or should I just leave her alone? Thanks!

I don’t have a fiddle leaf fig, so I can’t say definitively if this is the case. But I’m wondering if perhaps if the top was cut off so the point where it would grow new leaves isn’t there so the current leaves are just getting large but it’s not making new ones because it hasn’t branched. Has it gotten any new leaves recently? I’m not sure how to encourage these plants to branch.

The bottom leaves on mine tend to be droopy as well. I’m not sure why but I’ve had it for over 3 years and it used to be 9 feet tall before I chopped it. Yours looks very healthy and happy to me. I love the huge top leaves!

The bottom leaves of mine were always falling off even though there was new growth at the top. It was the strangest thing

A little drooping often happens on the older leaves. The proportion between size of leaves and size (length and width) of stem could have to do with your drooping. It’s good that you have a good support for the main stem to give it all it needs to support those giant leaves. Mine has three stems that were braided together when they were young, so I’m wondering if that’s why I don’t have as much drooping. 🤷🏻‍♀️ If he continues to grow and stay green, keep doing what you’re doing! 👏🏼

I learn so much in these chat rooms. Your plant is beautiful. I have 3, figgy pop, big Jake and smalls. I try to get as many tips as I can and they really work. Take care of those babies and keep going
