This is my first inflorescence and MAAM THIS IS A CHILIS
I just noticed this nice new leaf today! Alocasia cuprea. It always has only two or three leaves. I bet after this one unrolls an older leaf will fall off. Do you guys experience the two to three leaf only thing with your Alocasias? Not all but several of mine are this way. They grow one and drop one.
Omg! Went to costco⦠and i found this beauty⦠for $33⦠this is the biggest plant iāve ever had! Any tips for a plant of this size would be appreciated!
Should I repot this baby? I got it new in November and it just grew like crazy, I mean it was small when I got it and maybe 3 leaves. Itās so happy I donāt want to ruin it. Itās came in what I believe is peat moss, which I love. If I do repot, should I use the same? Would it need fertilizer? I donāt want to kill my baby!
New leaf rollout on my Pink Princess Alocasia š
Hey guys! New here! Hereās a small portion of my Alocasia collection. Not an aficionado necessarily, but Iād like to be!
My frydek lost most of its leaves during its winter dormancy period sadly but now that she is refreshed and calibrated again⦠NEW LEAF BABY! it was a surprise to see the tiny spurt the other day but Iām so happy sheās looking healthy so far š¤ (so excited to see what the variegation looks like too!!)
Massive new leaf rolling out
My Polly has been in Fluval stratum in a non draining vessel for almost a month now, hasnāt dropped any leaves since the transfer from soil⦠and now she is giving me a new leaf!!! Without dropping any of her current ones!!!! I think Iām in love with Fluval stratum⦠letās hope itās a leaf and not a flowerā¦. This is the first new growth only have had her since Christmas.
Should I prune this large leaf off my elephant ear? I have a new leaf growth and have been trying to get it healthy again.
Dying or going dormant? Two months ago this was a new leafāthe last leaf on my giant taroā but now it is wilting from the tip down. I have him in my quarantine corner at the moment. Edit: itās been a while since Iāve watered⦠But the soil is still most in the middle.
Thank you to everyone who convinced me to wait it out bc they said it looked like a leaf & not a bloom. IT IS INDEED A LEAF! š±
Hey guys! Any ideas of whatās going on with my Alocasia? Or any advice about this? I found one of his leaves like this recently and he also had a new one that died the other day too. Heās also leaning over to the side a little bit, I wasnāt sure if it was because heās sick or just leaning towards the light. He uses a grow light instead of natural. But Iām not sure whatās going on or how to fix this.
I thought this was a leaf malformation but itās actually my first inflorescence š„¹š¤§ proud plant mama here šš¼āāļø However I noticed two new baby yellow spots today š© Iād say probably fungal right, any recommendations to treat it? Or do inflorescence cause damage to the oldest leaf like leaf cycling? I also took it out of its pot and inspected the roots without dislodging all the soil (I donāt want it to do anything while itās pushing out an inflorescence) and didnāt notice anything worrisome. All of the roots looked healthy. Should I poke around deeper?
HELP!! My black velvet alocasia was doing great and and the past couple days is circling the drain.. she is under a grow light, 70 degrees, 65% humidity, aroid soil⦠I donāt know where I went wrong but no signs of pests either TIA
Hey everyone! This is my first Alocasia ever so I still donāt know what Iām doing. My question is that my Alocasiaās leaves keep peeling from the stem. Is that normal? When I got her I knew one of her leaves was going to fall but this one is also breaking in a similar fashion. Is there anything I can do? Is there a way for me to stabilize the leaf so it doesnāt break?
Wouldnāt necessarily say Iām an aficionado yet but I am encouraged by this beauty.
She seems to be thriving since I took her out of the nursery soil and put her in only Fluval stratum! Her roots look healthy! This is just a glass bowl from Michaelās, no drainage.. and only fill with distilled water up to the bottom of her roots.
I have a Polly (alocasia) and itās not the first one iāve had but itās not doing super well. (just like the first one) and Iām super worried itās going to die like the last one. I actually bought planta premium not too long ago thinking it could help me manage this plant better but I still royally suck at it lol. (Iām gonna add pictures of my plants because itās easier to do that than another paragraph) (iāve seen a couple posts saying this kind was the easiest to take care of so iām probably making a bunch of beginner mistakes š) Iād love it so much if you guys could help me figure out whatās probably going to kill it. I donāt have enough knowledge about plants in general so if you guys know about books (or anything else) i could get myself for that it be great. i have grow lights but I might return them and get better ones. Iām ready to invest my time in money in this plant because I really love it so I need some advice!
I found a frydek at my local greenhouse! I have a humidifier set to about 60-65% and grow lights set for my other alocasia, anything else I should know for this guy?
