Should I prune this large leaf off my elephant ear? I have a new leaf growth and have been trying to get it healthy again.
Dying or going dormant? Two months ago this was a new leaf—the last leaf on my giant taro— but now it is wilting from the tip down. I have him in my quarantine corner at the moment. Edit: it’s been a while since I’ve watered… But the soil is still most in the middle.
Thank you to everyone who convinced me to wait it out bc they said it looked like a leaf & not a bloom. IT IS INDEED A LEAF! 🌱
Hey guys! Any ideas of what’s going on with my Alocasia? Or any advice about this? I found one of his leaves like this recently and he also had a new one that died the other day too. He’s also leaning over to the side a little bit, I wasn’t sure if it was because he’s sick or just leaning towards the light. He uses a grow light instead of natural. But I’m not sure what’s going on or how to fix this.
I thought this was a leaf malformation but it’s actually my first inflorescence 🥹🤧 proud plant mama here 🙋🏼♀️ However I noticed two new baby yellow spots today 😩 I’d say probably fungal right, any recommendations to treat it? Or do inflorescence cause damage to the oldest leaf like leaf cycling? I also took it out of its pot and inspected the roots without dislodging all the soil (I don’t want it to do anything while it’s pushing out an inflorescence) and didn’t notice anything worrisome. All of the roots looked healthy. Should I poke around deeper?
HELP!! My black velvet alocasia was doing great and and the past couple days is circling the drain.. she is under a grow light, 70 degrees, 65% humidity, aroid soil… I don’t know where I went wrong but no signs of pests either TIA
Hey everyone! This is my first Alocasia ever so I still don’t know what I’m doing. My question is that my Alocasia’s leaves keep peeling from the stem. Is that normal? When I got her I knew one of her leaves was going to fall but this one is also breaking in a similar fashion. Is there anything I can do? Is there a way for me to stabilize the leaf so it doesn’t break?
Wouldn’t necessarily say I’m an aficionado yet but I am encouraged by this beauty.
She seems to be thriving since I took her out of the nursery soil and put her in only Fluval stratum! Her roots look healthy! This is just a glass bowl from Michael’s, no drainage.. and only fill with distilled water up to the bottom of her roots.
I have a Polly (alocasia) and it’s not the first one i’ve had but it’s not doing super well. (just like the first one) and I’m super worried it’s going to die like the last one. I actually bought planta premium not too long ago thinking it could help me manage this plant better but I still royally suck at it lol. (I’m gonna add pictures of my plants because it’s easier to do that than another paragraph) (i’ve seen a couple posts saying this kind was the easiest to take care of so i’m probably making a bunch of beginner mistakes 😭) I’d love it so much if you guys could help me figure out what’s probably going to kill it. I don’t have enough knowledge about plants in general so if you guys know about books (or anything else) i could get myself for that it be great. i have grow lights but I might return them and get better ones. I’m ready to invest my time in money in this plant because I really love it so I need some advice!
I found a frydek at my local greenhouse! I have a humidifier set to about 60-65% and grow lights set for my other alocasia, anything else I should know for this guy?
Hiii i got this (originally) gorgeous elephant ear and have had it for about three months now. The leaves however started to droop and get brown spots and yellow. I thought maybe it was overwatering from rain/draft. I’ve recently cut off some of the worser off leaves, and it’s potted with a drainage hole and I recently moved it inside due to cold weather. I’m trying to get it back on track (see one new leaf!) but it’s proving difficult. I’ve been following planta’s care guide and advice. You can see its progression on the tagged plant. Any tips?
My alocasia’s first leaf during dormancy 🥹 this its first winter with me too, I was so nervous
Prettiest Alocasia. I am turning on because get ugly and stretch to light too much.
Purchased this Alocasia noblis 3 weeks ago. Watered weekly. It started getting these spots a week ago. I was concerned for fungus so I treated with fertilome. I’ve moved it to a brighter spot. Any suggestions?
My alocasia has been doing amazing since day one. I have been very consistent with watering and lighting. Today I checks and soil is slightly dry (usually I would water but it’s a little cold so I’m waiting). I notice the stems are just a little bit softer, not mushy and no yellow. It seems very healthy. Has lots of consistent new growth. Is there a reason the stems are a little softer? Cold? Repotting?
About a month ago I posted how there was new growth on my Silver Dragon that looked like a possible bloom— well I ended up pinching it off & another one grew😅 I decided to leave this one alone, what do you guys think?
I just purchased these two pretty guys over the weekend… planta informed me that they were too advanced for my current plant mom skill set. 😅 Which I don’t doubt, BUT I am hoping to hear any tips or tricks from my more experienced community members to help keep these babies alive and *hopefully thriving. Literally any information is helpful Thanks in advance!
About two weeks ago I noticed my snake plant had a funny leaf growing, in a week I checked back it it’s a black velvet, which makes sense this was his old pot before he got an upgrade! I need tips to keep this little guy alive. I have a black velvet currently, but she has dropped a lot of leaves and probably my most difficult plant baby. I would love to learn to propagate these babes. Any tips will help!! Thank you 🖤
Three inflorescences on two stems… lucky or doomed?!
