I am not an alocasia expert by a long shot, but this frydek (I’m pretty sure that’s what she is) has been doing great! I just moved three months ago and it just put out a big new leaf about two weeks ago! I had to go away for about 10 days so she didn’t get watered :( and now the new leaf looks like this. Could it still be forming? Or is it a water issue? I checked the roots and some are poking out the bottom of the pot and they look very healthy, no rot. Does anyone have any idea?💚
Help! My Black Velvet Pink Variagated Alocasia is curling! At first I thought it was forgot to water it or something but the soil was still moist. Can it be too much light? Few other Alocasia started turning their leaves down or on the side. They were doing fine for months and then out of nowhere most of my plants in the grow cabinet started acting weird

How do you guys get your alocasia to grow large and not just die in the winter till the next summer? i live in southern ontario, is that just what’s gunna happen to them?

How big do these guys normally get? The longest stem is about 26” long and they just keep growing! Do they ever need a support stick? Does it need to be re-potted? I don’t want to mess anything up, when I bought it, it was 1/3 this size (early May) and the largest leaf was less than 1/3 the size (now bigger than my hand).

We went to the greenhouse just to look. This is my first alocasia. My husband convinced me to buy it, though he didn’t have to try very hard. I really hope I can keep it thriving.

I think I posted my polly before, as I was so happy to have a new leaf from her. She was trouble from day 1, took me a long time to figure her out!! I almost tossed her several times... long story short, she was repotted recently and I braved propagating the corms... she gave me 6 total. All 6 have rooted, and I've got two sprouted!! This is a first for me!! I've never propagated any thing other than leaf cuttings. I'm so tickled!!

I FOUND A WISH LIST PLANT! The Alocasia ‘Black Velvet’… I found 2 of them at Walmart (of all places), repotted them together. Named one Elvis & the other Sirius. 😄 Any tips on keeping them alive are welcomed & very appreciated. Wish me luck! 🖤

Hi! I’m fairly new to alocasia’s and I was wondering if that lightened green edges around the plant (it is the newest leaf that came out about 3-4 weeks ago) is an issue? I’ve already checked it and there don’t seem to be any pest issues but not sure if this is normal or might be an issue? Thanks!

I got this silver dragon alocasia (I think) on sale today because it’s not doing so great. It does have one new leaf though so I have hope. Do you think re-potting, cutting off the dying leaves and some neem oil to the healthy ones could help save it or will that be too much of a shock to the plant?
