I need help identifying my Alocasia. The leaves are very elongated. Thanks!

Question: Why is that leaf turning brown? Context: Browning leaf is the only sign of distress. No sign of pests. Watering and liquid fertilizing happens as often as the app suggests — or I snooze the task if the soil’s still wet. I used to have the plant on a shelf a few feet away from the window, where it started to droop and a few leaves died. It’s been much happier (and put out a new leaf) ever since I moved it to the sill. *I have not checked the roots recently. Maybe that’s the next move.

I picked this guy up yesterday and he’s not looking so hot. I just watered and it hasn’t perked up (about 6 hours). The spots are worrisome. I did just spray and wipe down all the leaves for fear of mites. Any ideas?

SOS… What happens if I just let them grow like that? lol It’s -5 in Chicago and I reallyyy don’t want go outside to dig my pots and soil out of the greenhouse to repot this mother trucker and her children 🫠

I got an Alocasia Macrorrhiza Camouflage today and can’t find it on Planta :/ Does anybody know if there’s an other name for it so I can add it to my collection on the app? I’m seeing a “giant taro splash”, to my knowledge this is the same thing…? Not sure Any care tips would be appreciated too :))

I received this cuprea from a friend for christmas. However, in the last month, it has lost 4 leaves. Its remaining leaves seem to be drooping, and I don’t know how to stop it. I water it every 7-10 days, and the pot it’s currently in has no drainage. Does anyone have any advice on how I can keep her alive? 😅 I welcome and greatly appreciate any tips!

My first Polly is giving me a hard time 😳 The smaller leaves are all yellowing and dying. Doesn’t seem over or under watered but I could be wrong! Any ideas on how to help this cutie ?! Thanks!!

Just got this Maharani, what advice do you all have for me? I’ve got a klingsbo cabinet not weather stripped and each shelf has one barring t5 pink-white light bar. Cabinet stays at about 66% humidity. In soil with rocks on top to help prevent gnats, watered 2-3 days ago fertilized 2 weeks ago.

I have a sprouted Alocasia Baginda (Pink Dragon) corm in a small sauce container with perlite and fluval stratum. I bought it on FB Marketplace and since I’ve brought it home it has done nothing for me. When I brought it home it had one leaf and appears to have another trying to start. That’s being said, it hasn’t done much of anything. I know something must be wrong with the conditions I’m providing so I’m trying to pinpoint what’s going wrong. For reference, it’s winter where I live (probably not the best time to bring this plant home, I know), we have a Woodstove that makes the ambient humidity 20% so I keep it under a glass jar with water sprayed inside and I let it breathe for about an hour each day. It gets bright indirect light from the window where it sits most of the time and direct sun for the hour that it’s out since I move it to the kitchen when the sun comes in. The new leaf shoot just looks crinkled and isn’t growing. Roots looks healthy. I did pull off 6 tiny corms and I’m trying to get those started just in case this plant doesn’t make it. Any advice is welcome.

I have a relatively small dragon scale Alocasia. It had five good leaves on it. My cat ripped off two leaves from the top of the stem. The stems are still intact. Will it regrow leaves at the top of the stems or should I cut them down to the base to have them regrow?

I cleared out another old nursery pot that had long ago been replanted and lo and behold , a A. wentii corm. No bottle caps available so we gotta do what we gotta do to get him going. Cheers lil buddy!

Anyone know of these black spots are Normal on my black velvet? She’s always been healthy and pushing leaves and has had them for a while. They’re not bugs and I can’t actually feel them, I just noticed there were more than I previously thought. It’s on all the stems and the base and I just wanna make sure.

Is this baby ready to graduate from its long time watery home? If so, what is the very best medium for this plant to grow in? I’ve heard that Alocasias like leca, or something similar, mediums with which I am not familiar. Advice, please! TIA…
