Because of the weather, my poor Emerald Edge aka Alocasia scalprum is dying. Itās pretty much on life support right now. It didnāt help that I transplanted it in ātropical soilā(which already has a little bit of moisture) and put in a LITTLE bit of water in it and became PRACTICALLY waterlogged leading to root rot. Then I had to clean the out, but then with the A/C being on and the humidity practically being sucked out the air it got to the way it is in the picture below. For me and my room, the alocasia scalprum does well. But the care for it like its predecessor alocasia dragon scale is still VERY strict. It MUST be moist, be wary of the soil you give it even when it claims to be for ātropical plantsā, if A/C will be used (if an indoor plant) put it under a ziploc bag (WITH holes), and of COURSE be wary of the humidity of your room. Iām already looking to buy a new Alocasia scalprum, but Iām going to miss THIS one and Iām not going to give up on the Alocasia plant species. Just gotta find the right one for me and my room! PS: Yeah I know I have a new leaf TRYING bud, but I donāt think it will make it out on timeš¢
Can someone help I.D. this?!
Got this BEAUTY from ikea a few days ago, put it in leca like my other alocasias, and took it out today to check progress (since I know most of the roots will rot while transitioning to water). But I clearly put too much water in the pot because the bulb is rotted now!!! So mad at myself! Iāve used hydrogen peroxide to help kill the rot, and am going to let it dry for a while. Any other tips? Iām so sad! Hopefully this baby will pull throughš¤š¼
Hi everyone! I have this beautiful Alocasia that my cat got into unfortunately :( there were three perfect leaves and she ate half of two of them, one of which has died and fallen off. The other is still on the plant but now the good leaf is turning brown, does anyone know what this could be? I did just start her in a hydroponic set up a few weeks ago, any advice?
I had a rough start with my alocasias. I thought both of these were goners but I cut them both a while ago and left them in the pots. And they slowly started to grow new leaves. Now they are thriving! So excited to see them continue to grow!
So Iāve got some corms. How long until they do something? Bc it feels like after a month, SOMETHING shouldāve happened by now lol.
Just got my dream Alocasia!!!!!
Oh my god! Iāve never seen these before. I assume these are flowers. Do you guys know if I should just cut it off or let it be? Itās really cool though!
Well I purchased a this Alocasia Green Unicorn (azlanii x dragon scale) online from Canopy Plant Co. and it arrived sad, dry and with brown/yellow spots all over the leaves⦠so sad. Iāve watered it and sprayed for pests to see if it can just slightly recover in quarantine then will try the chunky soil mix. Wondering what those spots are?
omg my african mask has its first bloom š« what do i do???? iām so excitedš
Can anyone tell me what type of Alocasia this is?
Help! My Alocasia African Mask definitely has spider mites and she is my favorite plant! What do I do? I just noticed this today and checking the rest of my plants for them.
Question! Is this new leaf ok or does it need assistance? It started to bend today not sure if thats ok and it looks like is still pretty far in there while starting to unfurlā¦? I have been spraying it with water to help it š¤·š½āāļø

Iām so happy guysss Iām like 103% sure this is a flower and Iām just so honored to get my first Alocasia bloom both my Alocasiaās have been doing so well!!
I have a silver dragon. Not sure how I keep it alive honestly š seeing every oneās having babies. Iām wondering if mine has any. Iām honestly scared to disturb it just to check. Do you guys think she may have babies? I have had her almost a year! My goodness I didnāt know that I had it that long.
A couple months ago I repotted my alocasia amazonica thinking she wouldnāt grow because the dirt was too heavy, which I was correct in thinking. I pulled off a smaller leaf that had its own root system and it sprouted a second leaf! All 22 corms got moldy while trying to propagate them so I threw all but one of them out. Two months of being in dirt the corm sprouted! Now my parent alocasia has the first leaf sprout itās ever had in the six months Iāve had her! Iām so excited! š¤©š¤©š¤©
