Underwatering? Or are you watering with hard water
0 J'aimeThere has been a little bit of a learning curve with how much water she likes. She is higher maintenance in that area than my other plants. But I think I have her routine down. I do have hard water though. I hadnât even thought of that. Would a water conditioner help?
1 j'aimeAbsolutely! Tropical plants can be really sensitive to the minerals in hard water which causes brown leaves
1 j'aimeI would use filtered water, at least. I have very hard water and have to even mist with filtered. Otherwise, my plants arenât as happy. I bought a unit that attaches to my kitchen faucet that gives me filtered water on demand. I love it. And I have to use distilled water in my humidifier. Btw, do u have a humidifier? That would help. All my Alocasias are near a humidifier and I actually have one on a humidity tray.
1 j'aimeI donât have a humidifier on my plants. I have very limited space. I think I may do a humidity tray for this alo though. Just a tray with rocks and water, right?
1 j'aimeYep. Thatâs it!
1 j'aimeThis could be due to low humidity, a pebble tray would help. Yea itâs just rocks and water just make sure the plant isnât sitting in water
1 j'aimeThanks everyone! This gives me some great things to try to help her out! She isnât completely angry with me. She is pushing up a new leaf, but I definitely offend her somehow. So I will try to improve her water and humidity conditions!
0 J'aimeIâve used both methods- conditioner & filtered water for my alocasias, noticed no difference for me. just no hard water for sure ;)
