Could you please tell me how you propagate these corms? TIA…🤗💚🪴

So I usually mix some perlite with my moss but I didn’t have any so I’m hoping this works out just fine. I squeeze out any excess water prior to placing them in. This was a takeout container I repurposed so I’ll place the lid over it once I finish & place them underneath my grow light. I’ll pop the lid open every once in a while to let some fresh air in. In a few weeks I hope to see some roots 🤞🏼

Thanks for your post! If I understand you correctly, you take damp moss, put it in a container, and then lay the corms down on it, on their sides??? Do you cover the corms with damp moss? Then you cover them with some kind of clear plastic top so that light can get through, right? (Is putting them in the sun sufficient?) Do you ever spritz the corms, while they’re in the process of rooting? How long does it take for a corm to grow roots, and at what point do you plant a corm that you have propped? Perhaps you wouldn’t mind clarifying some of this for me; I’d really appreciate that. Regards…🤗💚🪴

In the damp moss I place the corms with the root side down, I tuck them into the moss so that it’s just covered slightly never fully (you want the top of the corm to be exposed). Yes, the lid is clear so light can still get through. I’ve never tried in a window(I’ve heard good results & bad: bad being bc of the heat of the sun it can cause mold to grow faster bc it’s then evaporating the water causing an excess of moisture as opposed to it being under a grow light). I don’t mist it unless I see the moss is drying out but bc the lid remains closed for longer than it’s opened, the moisture that’s trapped tends to get absorbed by the moss all over again. However it is important to prop it open at least once a day for a few minutes just to get proper airflow. I recently propped some silver dragon corms & had them rooting in the moss for about 02-03 months (until I felt like they had enough roots to survive the transplant into soil, usually once I see a good amount of secondaries). Hopefully I answered any questions you had 🫶🏼
