When I first started out, gathering a few plants in my home, not knowing that I would create a jungle of peace and tranquility! I had a silver dragon, and I killed it not once but twice, two different plants! I declared after that I would never get a silver dragon again! yesterday at Home Depot- this little guy called to me. I am now over 100 plants deep and I think I’m at the point where I might be able to keep this little guy alive. lol I feel like this is a test somehow. lol
I can relate. I killed mine too (along with a couple other alocasias) when I first started on my plant journey too. I'm doing better with a few other types, so I may get brave... Best of luck! You've got experience and there should no doubt that you'll keep it thriving!!!

any tips?! as i actually just aquired a silver dragon, alocasia nobilis, jewel orchid, and regal shield all for the first time and i am stressing already. trying to figure out, mostly atm, what amount of light is too much or little…as yellowing leaves on all could mean either or option😵💫😫

I’ve had some success with alocasias (after some not so good luck). The leaves could be yellow due to the plant acclimating to your environment. Give is a little time. After about 1 month I transition my alocasias to pon. My alocasias are all indoor. Pon works for me as it takes the guess work out of watering, allows me to more time between watering (great for travel), and eliminated fungus gnats. I am not 100% consistent, but I mostly use distilled or at least filtered water. I also use root drops especially during the repot into pon and sporadically after the plant settles. The alocasia Adora (bottom shelf, right) is the newest to my collection and I have not transitioned to pon yet. The Polly was grown from corms. I killed the mother plant by spraying with concoction that contained neem oil and not wiping the solution off ( I forgot). She burned on the sunlight. This is my first time growing from corms. And the first time I’ve used Any sort of humidity dome.
I currently have my silver dragon (Dragon Tales) in pon but what are the root drops you’re using? My baby has since wilted since I transferred it to Pon and I fear I’m doing something wrong.

0개 좋아요 I’ve had my alocasias on a table near a west facing window. I recently relocated them to a display cabinet near the same window but I don’t think they will get enough light. I ordered grow lights. This will be my first trial with grow lights. Hopefully it works out. I’ll be watching closely. Can’t have my babies unhappy. lol.
0개 좋아요 Update! So silver dragons are just not for me! Went down hill one leave at a time! I pronounced the death today! No mind you I have a large collection of alocasia! It’s just this one type that hates me!
