I FOUND A WISH LIST PLANT! The Alocasia ‘Black Velvet’… I found 2 of them at Walmart (of all places), repotted them together. Named one Elvis & the other Sirius. 😄 Any tips on keeping them alive are welcomed & very appreciated. Wish me luck! 🖤

alocasia love high humidity. i mist mine multiple times a day (my room is very drafty). also, they're deep rooters, so i recommend a taller pot over a wider one. alocasia can be prone to spider mites, so watch out for those
좋아요 1개 Thanks so much for the tips! I’m so happy hear that about the pot because I chose a deeper planter (not very wide) not even knowing, so I’m glad for that! I wasn’t sure about misting because I’ve killed soooo many Dragon Scales from misting and leaving water on the leaves 🤦🏻♀️ wasn’t sure if the black velvet was similar and didn’t like to be misted but now I’ll add it to the rotation! Ty!
좋아요 1개 they can be temperamental depending on your area! especially if you keep them outside, if you're in a high humidity location misting should be at a minimum. i've noticed that pretty much all of my plants appreciate misting the unfurling leaves, though.
좋아요 1개 I keep most of my plants indoors. I have a humidifier (it’s not a good one) so I still mist all of my plants regularly.
