does anyone have a mickey mouse that’s thriving? if so, what is your secret? when i got this plant a couple months ago, she had 4 tall, healthy leaves that soon all started to droop. i chopped two of her leaves off that were basically on the ground & she grew 2 more back, but then the older remaining leaves started to droop too. she was planted in peat, which i didn’t disturb at first but then i wondered if it was holding too much water. so i eventually chopped those last leaves, repotted her & removed the death plugs i found, then potted her in molly’s aroid mix. she seemed to thrive after that & grew two MORE leaves (she grows fast at least) but now one is looking like its about to droop off again. what do you want from me, girl??? 😩😂 she’s consistently in bright indirect light near a window & even gets some light from my b.o.p.’s light. i water her with planta’s help, when she’s about 60-70% dry. anyone have any advice?

Oh god not the peat and the death plug 😭 I hate those!! She might still be recovering from that. Still growing new leaves is a good sign. I don’t have one of these myself. I thought they were alocasia but it looks like they’re actually cousins. If they are similar, they might not hold more that two or three leaves at a time until they get really established Side note, these were so expensive near me during the pandemic! It’s crazy how these and alocasia cuprea were like $100-300 at the highest for small pots. I recently saw a mid sized cuprea for $15 and I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry for the people who bought them at peak prices 🥲

thank you for the reply! you’re right, i need to remember plants function in plant time, not my time 😅 i’ll try to have more patience! i couldn’t remember if it was a hybrid of an alocasia with xanthosoma or if it was just a xan, but she seems dramatic like some alocasia 😂 so i’ll try not to take the drooping older leaves personally for maybe another 6 months 🤔 i picked this gal up from a local small business for i think about $30, i’m glad i waited! but i’m still determined to make this investment successful haha

Haha yeah, if only they could tell us what’s wrong and what they want with words! 😂 I hope yours starts thriving soon. It’s going to be beautiful Nice price! I have a monstera Thai constellation that I’m glad I didn’t get at preak prices. But they’ve gotten even more affordable in the past 6ish months, so there’s a tiny part of me kicking myself lol. I can’t be too disappointed though, I still adore the plant and anything variegated 😂🥰
