I feel like this app classifies every alocasia as an elephant Ear. Where does the term "Elephant Ear" come from, is it just a common name and not necessarily the scientific name? What kind of Alocasia is pictured below? The app has classified it as an elephant ear.

    I think it’s a alocasia wentii , the term elephant ear is not a scientific name it is just a nickname for a variety of these types on alocasia , it is called that due to the shape of the leaves.
