Help! My Alocasia melos leaves are rotting. The leaf will turn yellow or dark green then slowly rot away. The roots are good. The soil stays slightly moist. Humidity is good..… so I don’t know

This is what normally happens to the old leaf when the alocasia puts out a new leaf.

Really? This is normal??? The thing is I don’t see any new leaves with my one alocasia melo… does it mean that it’s coming soon?

Well, with my alocasia usually the oldest leaf starts to do this a few days after pushing out a new one, so getting it big and bushy can be a long process. but as for the specific one you have someone else might have a different suggestion! I don’t have the same exact type 🖤

Leaves rotting is a sign of root rot, alocasias like a chunky soil and this soil looks very dense

I have the same issue with just Melos. Chunky soil, high humidity, water at 50% dry but yellowing leaves more than new growth. I’ve tried a few of these plants but I think it’s just not for me. Such cool leaves when healthy though.

I had no clue what was the issue and the plant ended up growing back to a stump for one and just one leaf the other. After doing a lot of research, I realize that this is Alocasia’s growth pattern when they’re not fully matured yet it helps to fertilize them very well, and I recently placed them in pons which seems to be working because now they are growing leaves again. Alocasia’s are my favorite type of plants but these Melos were not doing well. I think I got it figured out now tho
