Just got this last week and not sure how best to care for it! I love it and don't want to hurt it! It looks like the baby leaf coming in is yellowing, what am I doing wrong? I have not repotted it. Just waiting to let it acclimate to my house. And the leaves are dripping at points, that's just the excreted water right?!

the plant as a whole is probably still just adjusting to its new environment. that little leaf that’s yellowing looks to either be a really old leaf at the base of the stem or it grew in from a corm. even if it’s a goner it might not be indicative of anything else that’s wrong with the rest of the plant. just give it some time :)

The leaf yellowing was from a corm so don’t worry, its root system is separate from the mother plant. The water just means it’s nice and hydrated so do NOT water!!! It will then get overwatered and leaves will yellow if you do. Wait until soil is dried out. People say alocasias like moist soil but I’ve found out they are all sensitive to overwatering, and will yellow quickly with too much water. I don’t water mine for awhile… what I do is put all of mine in water as soon as i get them. I remove every bit of the soil very very gently… and take any corms I find and put them in fluval stratum/perlite mix if they haven’t sprouted yet, if they have I put them in the same mix but add pon. The mother plant will stay in water for awhile until I see a decent water roots system. I’ll change water every few days and remove any dead soil roots. Once they’re ready I put them in a self watering pot with pon. Alocasias love it and thrive!

But what I meant was… sorry I’m tired lol. If I do leave in soil I wouldn’t water awhile…. But I have completely ditched soil for alocasias. And am actually in the process of moving my entire collection to semi hydroponics in lechuza pon. I have only 28 plants out of 104 in soil still… rest are in pon and thriving

I’d consider repotting. That soil looks like it’s going to retain a lot more water than you want. I use the following soil for my alocasia: 5 part orchid bark, 1 part perlite, 1 part soil and I have a lot of new growth!
